Changes for the New Year

Updates to MacGuffin or Meaning

I admit, I have been a bit hit or miss when it comes to publishing here. But that will change this year, I swear it!

The first big change is that there will now be weekly film reviews posted to this site! I am still writing for The Dominion Post but after posts have published there, I will be publishing them at this site. So on Mondays, expect to see a streaming review and on Tuesdays, a review for a film in theaters. I’m excited to be able to have these available to everyone, even if you’re not a subscriber to the newspaper.

Another change is that I will be adding an audio element to these newsletters. I know not everyone has time to read, so I’ll do the reading for you and you can listen! I want to do whatever I can to make this more accessible, so watch for that beginning next year.

The final big change is that I will be adding paid content to this website. Like many folks, I love the show Ted Lasso, and I really want to do a deep dive on the way it examines relationships. Friendships, romantic relationships, parental relationships, and coaching/mentor relationships. I will be offering these posts to folks who would like to support my writing financially.

Subscriptions will start at $5/month or $50/year. I struggled with the idea of adding a paywall to some work, but then I remembered that my time is valuable and it’s okay to ask people to support me financially. Your support will help me create more time for writing, which, in turn, should allow me to improve my writing. So please consider becoming a paid subscriber.
