Fantasia Festival coverage beginning soon!
Films I'm excited to screen at the Fantasia Festival later in July
I’m excited to announce that I received press accreditation for the Fantasia Festival out of Montreal. This is the 28th year of the festival, and it will run from July 18 to August 4. There are obviously tons of films coming to the festival, and I wanted to highlight a few that are of particular interest to me and that I hope to share some thoughts about right here!
The G - I really love Dale Dickey, so when I see her listed as a lead in a film, that piques my interest immediately. Dale Dickey as the star of an elder revenge thriller? Absolutely sign me up.
Oddity - A story about a scary wooden mannequin that helps a medium find her twin sister’s murderer could go one of two ways. I am very interested to see which way it goes.
Shelby Oaks - Chris Stuckman has been a popular YouTube film critic for years. I enjoy his work and am excited to see him step into the role of director, partnering with Mike Flanegan as an executive producer.
The Tenants - South Korea knows how to do dystopian stories about class and poverty, and this one sounds absolutely fascinating. Subleasing part of your home to others to make rent, and they choose the bathroom? Yes, that’s of interest.
Bookworm - I promise I have interests beyond thrillers and horror movies. This story of a father reconnecting with his estranged daughter sounds genuinely delightful, and yes, the inclusion of the best hobbit ever (Elijah Wood) is a pretty big draw.
I’m so excited to check out the wide array of films available at Fantasia. Be sure to watch this space for reviews and interviews over the next few weeks!Â
If you’re looking for an easy, free way to support me, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. I will always love writing, first and foremost, but talking to people about their movies is something I didn’t know I would enjoy so much. Your support of the channel will help me access more interview opportunities and improve my skills in that regard.
Good stuff Alise!! Keep on keeping on and making some serious dents in the film critics industry.
