Best Worst Movies: Speed Racer with Pedro Lima
Plus some other writing I've done out on the World Wide Web
I’m a little behind on…everything? But I have had a bunch of recorded episodes of Best Worst Movies waiting to be edited and published. I still have more, but if you’re looking for something to listen to while you head to your Thanksgiving celebration, or you’re looking for something to listen to while you make pies, or you just want to listen to a movie podcast about a film you haven’t thought about in years, check out the latest episode of Best Worst Movies!
This week I'm joined by Pedro Lima to discuss one of his favorite films: Speed Racer. This movie was the first one from the Wachowski sisters following The Matrix trilogy. This 2008 movie, starring Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox, John Goodman, and Christina Ricci is currently at 42% on Rotten Tomatoes. Listen and find out why this movie holds a special place in Pedro's heart.
Follow Pedro on Twitter and Letterboxd. And read more at his website, Shortstick.
I screwed up the video on this, so no YouTube this time, but you can listen here or wherever you get your podcasts.
I have also been doing some writing over at Movies We Texted About. I met Ayla through the IFSCA and when she asked about adding guest contributors, I jumped at the chance. Love supporting other female critics, doncha know!
Anyway, I wrote a review for Fingernails, a movie that I absolutely adored. It’s a bit more essay than review, but I’m really happy with how it turned out, so I’d love for you to go give that a read. And if you’ve seen the movie, let me know - I’d love to talk about it with people!
I also wrote a review for Thanksgiving. Horror comedies are such a mixed bag, but this one is just so much fun. I had a fun time at the movie and then writing about my time at the movie.
Are you heading to the movies over the weekend or planning to stream anything from your home? Let me know - there’s a lot to watch right now! Have a great weekend!
